🎃 Halloween Parade – Kids Go Home for Lunch. NO LUNCH PROGRAM!
Dear Smith School Families,
Keeping up with the Smith tradition, our K-5 classes will have Halloween-themed activities and a costume parade at the end of October. Please note the change to the schedule for Thursday, October 31, 2024.
On this day, all students will be dismissed to go home for lunch at 11:30 AM and return to school at 1:15 PM. Students are encouraged to change into a costume. Families are invited to enjoy the outdoor Costume Parade which will begin by 1:30 PM weather permitting. The crossing guards will be present for the additional dismissal and arrival times.
For those students who are unable to go home for lunch, Smith staff will be present to supervise at lunch and recess and can assist with costumes. Please let your student’s teacher and main office know if your student(s) need to stay at school. The HSA school lunch will not be served. Students who stay in school must bring lunch in with them from home.
Upon their return, students will report to their classrooms at 1:15 PM The parade will begin at 1:30 PM. Families may gather around the perimeter of the building and the field to view the parade. Please stay off the sidewalks as our classes walk in the parade. There will be an opportunity for class photos at the end of the parade on the upper field. Families are not permitted to enter the school building on this day.
Please do not send your child dressed in a costume in the morning.
- Ensure the costume is appropriate for an elementary school setting.
- Be mindful that we have students as young as five and siblings of all ages who attend the parade.
- Students may not wear inflatable costumes.
- Students may not wear masks that inhibit their vision.
- Costumes that exhibit excessive gore, violence, and are provocative, are not considered age-appropriate.
- No weapons of any kind are permitted in school, this includes costume accessories and toy weapons. Do not send these items to school.
- Costumes may not be offensive. (gender, culture, race, religion, sexuality, etc.)
- Costumes should not interfere with the ability of students to go to the bathroom by themselves.
- No dogs are permitted on school grounds.
I hope you will be able to join us for the parade. In the event of heavy rain, the parade will be canceled. Classroom activities will continue as planned. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us make this day a safe and enjoyable event for all.
